Autumn colour palette
This transitional period between summer and winter has a very special colour palette all of its own – oranges, gold, browns and reds. It makes sense to let nature inspire your colour choices, especially as this palette looks so wonderful however you interpret it.
If you prefer something a little different though, don’t be afraid to experiment with complementary colours like greens, yellows, metallics and dark pinks.
Autumn decor ideas
You can go to town (or country!) with an autumn theme by using nature as your inspiration. Fallen leaves and pine cones can make a very pretty décor option, especially if you get creative and spray them gold, while wooden tree slices and even moss can really give a reception table a stunning seasonal style.
Then there’s Halloween and fireworks night to draw inspiration from. Use pumpkins in all shapes and sizes to create a stunning display or even line the aisle with, and create a romantic glow with hundreds of twinkling candles or have a sparkler send-off at the end of the night. Fabrics like plush velvet and hessian work nicely with an autumn theme too.
Autumn wedding flowers
Autumn is a wonderful season for flowers because you can borrow all the best ideas from summer and pair them with some of the lovely arrangements you see at winter weddings. Flowers in season at this time of year include chocolate cosmos, dahlias, delphiniums, freesias, lilies, lisianthus, ranunculus and roses.
It’s not just about the flowers in autumn though. Foliage is your friend at this time of year and works really well against all the deep colours the season is known for, plus it’s harvest time so draw inspiration from what’s readily available in nature like berries, fruit, herbs, feathers and seed heads – all of which make for a standout floral arrangement.
Autumn wedding menus
With the weather cooling down as we head into winter, you can create a warming feast at an autumn wedding. Three-course sit down meals in front of the fire with candles twinkling away can be magical, with hearty options and plenty of fresh seasonal veg on offer.
In the evening you can get creative if the weather is still fine with hog roasts and BBQ banquets or wow your guests with LIVE COOKING STATIONS.
