July Wedding

“There was so much love in the room we felt like we could fly: the venue is spectacular!”

What made Manor By The Lake stand out for you?

The venue is spectacular, but what really stood out for us, from day one right up until the end of our wedding day, were the staff. They were super helpful and accommodating, all going above and beyond to make our day special!

Favourite moment of the day?

When we were announced into the ballroom for the evening meal and the crowd went crazy. There was so much love in the room, we felt like we could fly!

With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?

The Cedar Tree is the most magical part of the venue for taking pictures. It’s so grand and regal. We got some amazing pictures with the tree and the Manor in the background. The photos around the arches by the front door and the bedroom have come out really beautifully too!

Tell us about your evening reception, did you party the night away?

The party was out of this world. Everyone was so desperate to dance that we didn’t even do our first dance as everyone wanted to dance. We even got the extended licence so we could party into the night!

What was your theme? Any favourite unique touches?

We had a Persian wedding with a very beautiful table set up in the Manor. The staff really helped us to make everything look good and there was no stress. It was the most chilled day!

Jess & Matt

Intimate Autumn Wedding

“We absolutely loved our special day at Manor By The Lake and wouldn’t have changed a thing. The staff were so caring and attentive making our day a dream. The grounds were beautiful and the food was amazing, we have to many great photos to remember our day”

What was your first impression when you visited Manor By The Lake for the first time?

The manor was absolutely stunning, such a beautiful building with so much character! The gardens were pristine and we fell in love with the gorgeous chandelier in the entrance hall. We couldn’t believe it would be all ours on our special day!

Are you happy that you went ahead with your wedding during the COVID restrictions? Did you still get your dream wedding?

We still had our dream wedding. The staff were amazing at making our day so special. We loved the intimate feel and you wouldn’t even notice the restrictions that were in place from our photos.

What was your favourite aspect of Manor By The Lake?

The manor was absolutely stunning, such a beautiful building with so much character! The gardens were pristine and we fell in love with the gorgeous chandelier in the entrance hall.

What was the funniest or most memorable part of your day?

I felt I needed a quick break before my evening guests arrived. The staff were fantastic, they sent me up to my room and brought up a tray of tea and biscuits for me to enjoy with my bridesmaids before the party commenced! It was just what I needed!

Based on your own experiences, do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?

Ask your guests to take as many photos as possible. Some of our best, most natural photos were taken on guests’ phones. They captured some great memories that we may not have seen!

Don’t get too worked up on over-planning. No matter what, the day is a blast and you are so excited that you don’t realise all the small things! The staff are so experienced and have the day totally in hand!

Intimate Winter Wedding

“Manor by the Lake hosted our wedding and all our guests found the rooms and service excellent. It’s a great location and the staff were very attentive with us all. Would definitely recommend this venue to future couples wanting to get married..”

Photography: SNOB Events

What was your first impression when you visited Manor By The Lake for the first time?

The grounds and manor were beautiful and added to the whole autumny/wintery ambience that we wanted to create. Each room within the manor added a unique feel to the whole venue overall.

Are you happy that you went ahead with your wedding during the COVID restrictions? Did you still get your dream wedding?

Yes for sure to the point where we felt it was even better than it would have been pre-covid times. The intimate vibe really did make the whole day very special for every guest that attended.

What was your favourite aspect of Manor By The Lake?

There was no particular aspect that made this venue special, it was a combination of each room, the staff and the grounds that came together to create a prefect venue.

What was the funniest or most memorable part of your day?

The most memorable part was actually seeing all of our decor in the manor and how stunning it all went together with the rooms. It came together so well!

Based on your own experiences, do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?

Definitely go and view the venue. Don’t just go for what the venue looks like on the outside but also on the inside. Ask all the relevant questions on these visits so you know exactly what is what for your big day.

Summer Wedding

“Our colour scheme was pink as this is my favourite colour with a soft touch of ivory. Everything matched and our favours were love hearts and Eiffel Tower biscuits to represent our engagement.”

Tell us about the proposal?

It was a complete surprise! Adam proposed the day after my Birthday in Paris!

What made you choose Manor By The Lake?

The beautiful grounds! Manor By The Lake has the most lovely gardens and is the perfect venue to have an outside wedding.

What was your style of bouquet?

I had my bouquet made with artificial flowers by my auntie and wedding decorator. They were blush and ivory!

What did the groom wear?

Adam wanted them all to all wear a tux! Our two boys wore black bow tie’s and the groomsmen wore pink bow ties.

What dress did you wear?

My dress had blush undertones which you could see in the light. It was from Wed2B in Bristol and I also had a two-tier Ivory veil and a tiara from By Design.

What did the bridesmaids wear?

They were a long, low neck chiffon dress with a lace back and shoulders. My man of honour wore a grey and blush pinstripe suit with a pink shirt and a white tie.

What parts of the day stood out for you the most?

All of our friends and family having fun and enjoying themselves!

Where did you go for your Honeymoon?

We had our honeymoon in December and went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Roberta & Kirk

Autumn Wedding

“Our colour scheme was very Autumnal and the whole style of our wedding was just a classic/timeless feel. We stuck with a lot of white but included the autumnal colours of browns and nudes. We used a lot of wood, twine, hessian and brass.”

It’s all about you

How did you meet?

We were both wing woman and wing man for our friends on a date. We had heard of each other before but we hadn’t met and we clicked but the friends didn’t!

Tell us about the proposal?

Kirk organised a party for my 21st Birthday. I had no idea he was going to propose, he got down on one knee in front of all of our family and friends. The best part about it, it was a fancy dress party and we were dressed as Peter Pan and Tinker bell.

What made you choose Manor By The Lake?

We fell in love with Manor by the Lake within minutes of being there. Cheltenham was close enough from Witney that our older family members were willing to travel there but far enough that the venue was unknown to many of the guests before the big day.

Who food did you choose and why?

Sausage and mash! We love good old English food and this went down a treat with all of our family and friends. It wasn’t on the original options but the chef was very accommodating to let us have this dish.

What was your stand out moment from your wedding party?

I think it has to be when my Chief Bridesmaid Naomi decided to have a worm competition against my 9 year old nephew on the dance floor. In fact she continued to do the move numerous times to the horror of the older guests.

Who did each of you wear?

I wore a Lyn Ashworth dress called ‘Lovers kiss’ from a small boutique in my hometown of Witney – Georgina Pimm. It was tight fitted with lace sleeves. Kirk wore a brown checked slim fit suit from Next.

What made your day extra special?

Family, the venue, the weather, all our guests, our suppliers and all the staff at Manor by the Lake, all that combined just created the perfect day for us!

What moments stood out for you the most?

Definitely walking down the aisle and being stood there with Kirk, and just the realisation this is happening. Our first dance was also a great moment because it went so well and after that we knew all the bits we had planned to do like our vows, speeches, cutting the cake and dance was done and they had all been perfect!

Jade & Scott

Winter Wedding

“I would describe our wedding décor as old school vintage glamour.  The Manor was nothing short of perfection. I used a mix of deep burgundy, blush pinks, peaches, rose golds and coppers in my floral arrangements.”

How did you meet?

We met on a night out at Christmas at a very quiet pub! I was wearing a red dress and Scott claims it was ‘love at first sight’ and I have since inherited the nickname ‘Jadey in Red’.

Tell us about the proposal?

Scott proposed Christmas morning in front of my Mum, Sister, Sisters Fiance, my Nephew and my Dad! It was a total surprise! My Dad knew and had lined up the champers before I even said Yes! He even secretly recorded so we luckily have a video to look back on!

What made you choose Manor By The Lake?

I fell in love the moment I drove up the drive. We loved the dark wood and opulence of colour throughout the Manor house and the beautiful ballroom which gave me as much scope as I wanted to add flowers and make it suit our theme.

Who food did you choose and why?

We had a selection of soup or fishcake for the starter, Chicken or beef for the main and Sticky toffee or choc trifle for pudding! We had so many compliments on the food and it was so delicious

What was your stand out moment from your wedding party?

I really loved my Sisters poem she read for us during the speeches. We were so fortunate to have her there as my Niece was, and still is a very poorly little lady in Kings Hospital, London. It was such a joy to still have her there and do a reading for us.

Who did each of you wear?

I wore a backless lace dress by Mikaella. I always knew I would want a more slimline style and have always loved backless. Scott wore morning tails with traditional grey pinstripe trousers, black waistcoat, white shirt and a burgundy tie to match my bouquet.

What made your day extra special?

The whole day was a fairy-tale from start to finish, it was a beautiful, magical…BLUR! Our wedding manager Jules and all the team ensured the day ran like clockwork.

What moments stood out for you the most?

Waiting outside the ceremony room doors with my Dad waiting to walk up the aisle to meet Scott. My Dad was so emotional and those last few moments with him as a Miss were so special! For Scott is was the moment I walked through the doors and he saw me in my wedding dress.

Keris & Ben

Spring Wedding

“Our colour theme was ivory, mint green and peach. It all matched our wedding invitations. We used mirrored plates and crystals throughout too. ”

It’s all about you

How did you meet?

We met whilst in the Army, Ben approached me and asked if I knew how to fix his tooth (I am a Dental nurse), he quickly admitted he hadn’t broken a tooth he just wanted to talk to me.

Who proposed to who and how?

Ben popped the question on our first holiday in Fuerteventura. We were on the beach and he got down on one knee, it was a complete surprise!

What made you choose Manor By The Lake?

It just seemed perfect for us, it was all we had talked about wanting and when we had looked around it we just knew that it was the venue for us.

What dress did you wear?

I wore a Maggie Sottero dress , it was a fishtail style and detailed with Swarovski crystals. I chose a full-length veil which was scattered with Swarovski crystals with personalised converse with my name, wedding date and the toes were decorated with crystals.

What did the Groom wear?

Ben wore a Jeff Banks morning suit in grey. He wanted the best man to wear mint green cravats and then the rest of the groomsmen wore ivory cravats.

How did you entertain your guests?

We had a live band, Tommy and The Fuse who are also one of Manor By The Lake’s recommended suppliers. They were amazing! They had everybody up dancing and were a huge hit!

Was there anything or anyone that made your day extra special?

The staff at the manor were amazing, they made sure everything ran smoothly and they got everything right, they decorated the venue even more perfectly than I could have imagined!

What parts of the day stood out most?

I think the part that stands out most for the both of us is probably when we saw each other for the first time. I walked into the ceremony room and all eyes were on me but I just looked at Ben and we were both really emotional and just so, so happy!

April Wedding

“I can’t thank the team at the Manor by the Lake enough for making the day so perfect! I would recommend them over and over!”

It’s all about you

What made Manor By The Lake stand out for you?

When searching for wedding venues, The Manor by the Lake stood out for me as the perfect venue. I fell in love with the venue purely from the online images and we had pretty much decided before we even came and didn’t visit anywhere else!

What was your theme? Any favourite unique touches?

We wanted pretty flowers involved with pink roses but with a simple and natural theme; nothing too bold.

With several ceremony spaces available, where did you choose and why?

We were married in the Maximilian which was just so beautiful. We considered an outdoor ceremony if the weather permitted but I secretly wanted the Maximilian anyway!! It was perfect. I loved the beautiful features of the room.

Favourite moment of the day?

All of it!! Our ceremony was dreamy, the wedding breakfast was just lovely and funny with our Best man’s song and the evening reception was just chilled out. If you had to pin me to one I think I would say the ceremony as it was just so special.

Tell us all about your food! What did you choose and why?

The food was amazing, we had many comments from our guests saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had! We chose the fishcake to start, then chicken and the chocolate tart for pudding. We chose the Mexican for our evening food and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved it.

With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?

My absolute favourite photo is under the manor arches!! I just love that photo so much!!

Did either of you use the Rock Bar on your wedding morning?

Paul and the groomsmen all used the Rock Bar to get ready on the morning of the wedding and they felt it was a really cool and relaxed area to get ready in.

Tell us about your evening reception, did you party the night away?

We had a disco and the evening was a lovely mixture of dancing whilst still being chilled out with people sat and enjoying the evening food. The older children were entertained by the Rock Bar and the games rooms so it was a great combination!

August Wedding

“It was the best day of our lives; we just couldn’t fault the manor!”

What made you choose Manor By The Lake?

It is simply a “hidden gem”. The grounds spoke for us along with the tiny happy rabbits throughout the gardens; this was very magical and rare to see with the many venues we looked around and knew the manor was the place for us! The exclusive use was the biggest thing that made us feel very at home and reassured that our wedding would be the only priority that day.

What colours did you choose?

We chose a summer pastel theme with green, pink and nude being our main colours.

Where did you have your ceremony?

We had our ceremony outside with the umbrellas. My wish was to get married outside at a beautiful manor house and my dream came true. Despite the weather, my dreams came true and the staff pulled out all the stops to make it happen!

What food did you choose?

I had the pork steak with gorgeous apple sauce drizzled over it; I know I won’t get a meal like that again! Everybody said the food was incredible. Our guests had chicken and the plates were all empty as service was taking them away!

What was your stand out moment from your wedding party?

Walking into the Ballroom as Mr and Mrs Quirke was just a truly magical experience; the room was stunning!

What made your day extra special?

Having champagne breakfast the next day with our nearest and dearest was the complete cherry on top for us and our guests. The food was just as stunning, and the waiter who served us was just fantastic; a very special treat in the morning! The guests loved their rooms and couldn’t fault them!
