Tony & Lindsay – Winter wedding

Who proposed to who and how?

Tony proposed in the Ice Castle at Winter Wonderland in London!

What made you choose Manor By The Lake as your wedding venue?

We were looking for a venue that catered to our needs all under one roof. Cheltenham is not local to us and is around a 2.5 hours drive. Thanks to Google we found our perfect venue which catered to all our requirements and more.

What did you love most about Manor By The Lake?

We loved that the venue had something old and something new to offer, even though everything is under one roof, there is still a feeling of two different venues.

From holding our ceremony in one room which offers an old and rustic feeling, to holding our wedding breakfast in the ballroom which was light, bright and modern in just a short walk.

What food did you have for your wedding breakfast?

For starters, we chose roasted tomato soup, basil oil, aged balsamic vinegar and rustic breads, crispy shredded duck leg, spring onion and cucumber salad, ginger and coriander dressing.

For mains, we had caraway roasted pork belly with pear sauce, winter greens, roasted onion and roast potatoes with traditional pork gravy, braised beef blade steak, roasted root vegetables, roast potatoes and ale gravy as well as roasted pepper piedmontese, polenta chips, with roasted tomato sauce (v).

For desserts, we had dark chocolate brownie with ice cream and a strawberry and mint salad as well as Sticky Toffee Pudding with toffee sauce and custard.

What Evening Food did you have?

For our evening food we chose the live cooking Mexican feast, consisting of chicken fajitas, sour cream, salsa, chilli con carne, nachos and corn on the cob!

What was your dress like?

My wedding dress was beautifully fitted with a love heart neckline and a long flowing train, decorated with crystals which sparkled beautifully, it was one of my highlights from the day. I also wore customised iridescent converse.

What did the Groom wear?

Tony wore a classic 3 piece black Hugo Boss suit with a white shirt and a Pink and grey Hugo Boss tie.

How many bridesmaids did you have and what colour were they wearing?

We had three bridesmaids who wore grey and two flower girls who wore ivory.

What are your two main highlights from the day?

This would have to be the amazing weather we had for our photos in the stunning gardens and the beautiful Ballroom for our meal!

What was the funniest or most memorable part of your day?

The most memorable part will always be seeing my beautiful wife walking down the aisle with our beautiful daughters. It’s also having all our family under one roof, all full of smiles and so happy.

The funniest moment was by far my brother’s best man speech, he absolutely smashed it, everyone was crying with laughter.

How did you decorate Manor By The Lake?

Our colour scheme for our wedding was grey. We arranged for white chair covers and grey lace sashes for our ceremony.

For the wedding breakfast, our table centrepieces were silver large candelabras with white roses and gypsophila intertwined and clear table crystals scattered throughout. Our table favours were handmade sweet sachets, personalised with our wedding date.  The children had colouring in packs, running with our cake theme of the ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ and bubbles.

What advice could you offer to other couples planning their wedding?

I would advise everyone to enjoy every minute of your day! It takes so long to plan and is over in the blink of an eye.
