“The whole day was a fairy-tale from start to finish, it was just beautiful! The team were just amazing and ensured the day went like clockwork”
We’re so lucky to have so many beautiful weddings here at Manor By The Lake. We wanted to share some of these with you so you can be inspired for ideas on your special day.
Fusion Wedding
‘Manor by the Lake provided us with some fantastic options for Indian food catering’
Photographer: Greg Shingler
Manor by the Lake stood out due to its experience with Asian fusion weddings. We wanted to have an Indian-Danish fusion wedding to celebrate our cultures and Manor by the Lake had lots of great options (e.g. with Indian food) to make this possible. Additionally, we loved the indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces and the option to choose our ceremony location on the day, which gave us a lot of flexibility and peace of mind with the unpredictable British weather
We were very excited to start planning our wedding but also felt a bit overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done. Manor By The Lake guided us step by step, making the process easy and enjoyable. The staff were incredible, helping us personalise elements to fit our fusion wedding theme perfectly.
Our theme was a fusion wedding of Indian and Danish cultures. We had a civil ceremony followed by some Indian cultural rituals such as exchanging wedding garlands. Our favourite unique touches were definitely the fusion cultural elements we brought to the day, such as our traditional Indian outfits, the Baraat (Groom’s procession) with dhol drummers, the brudevals or Danish wedding waltz as our first dance, and Danish wedding traditions such as cutting the groom’s socks.
There were several stunning ceremony spaces available which made the choice very difficult for us indeed. We absolutely loved the Maximilian room with its beautiful historic elements and grandeur which fit in with out Indian wedding outfits perfectly. We also loved the Italian Pavilion and the idea of an outdoor ceremony. In the end, we chose the Maximilian room because the weather on the day was slightly overcast around our ceremony time, and we thought an indoor ceremony followed by outdoor drinks reception would work well.
We had several amazing and memorable moments of the day and it’s very hard to pick one! Our ceremony itself was very special for both for us. We also absolutely loved the Baraat which set an incredible tone to start the wedding day with dhol drummers and dancing. The live band and dancing during the evening was another favourite moment for us.
We chose Indian food and went with Five Rivers, one of Manor By The Lake’s recommended suppliers. We both love Indian food and flavours and wanted to include this in our special day, and Manor by the Lake provided us with some fantastic options for Indian food catering. The guests all really enjoyed it too and the spicy food was a fun experience and challenge for the guests to enjoy.
We were spoiled for choice with several lovely photo opportunities. Our favourite spots were in front of the Manor arches, the Yew Tree walk and the little bridge on the lake which all gave us stunning backdrops to our photos.
Our evening reception was truly memorable and a lot of fun. We had our cake cutting followed by the first dance, which was a traditional Danish wedding waltz where the guests get involved as well, forming a circle around the bride and groom, clapping and slowly inching closer to make the circle smaller and smaller. We had a live band following this, who were amazing and really got people on the dance floor. A couple of special moments during the dancing was a fun Danish tradition where the groom is picked up and the toe of his socks are cut off. This also fit in nicely with an Indian tradition where the bride’s friends steal and hide the groom’s shoes.
We really enjoyed the afterparty and overnight stay experience. Spending a bit of time in the rock bar with our close family and friends after the wedding to reflect on the day was a memorable experience. The guests also really enjoyed their rooms and the breakfast the morning afternoon. We had a lovely stay in the beautiful and luxurious honeymoon suite.

Spring Wedding
‘Our ceremony was hands down our favourite part of the day!’
Photographer: Creative Depiction
The exclusive use of the venue. The beautiful scenery, how picturesque every corner of the venue was. We had ‘that feeling’ as soon as we stepped onto the stones and walked up the pathway towards the arches. We could already invisage our dream wedding coming to life!
The planning went well from the get go, but we did have 3 years to prepare so that was incredibly helpful! Ben was stressed about his speech, I was stressed about the first dance (as only 1 practice in the living room did not seem enough!) but both of them went perfectly and we realised how silly it was to stress, everything fell into place in the end.
With our wedding being in Spring, we went for a pastel blue, peach, green & white colour scheme. We thought it went perfectly with the natural flowers around the venue and our bouquets and buttonholes were lovely and bright. We had wildflower seeds as our favours so that every body could plant their own flowers and these would be a permanent reminder of our special day!
Saying I Do! With all of the wedding planning and pleasing other people, you can forget that the main reason you and all of your friends/family are here is because you are becoming husband and wife. Our ceremony was hands down our favourite part of the day!
Depending on the time of day, we loved our confetti shots & group shots under the arches, it shows the beautiful venue in the background. As the sun went down, we went over to the bridge by the lake and with fairy lights surrounding the walk way and the bridge being lit up, this was perfect for sunset shots! There are so many incredible spots to choose from, but these were definitely our favourites.
Our evening went by so quickly, one minute we were welcomed in to the ballroom as husband and wife and yet the next we were saying goodnight. You really do need to enjoy every second, and that’s exactly what us and our guests did. It was nice to welcome the evening guests and have some more faces, we had the band that sang our first dance song & partied with us right until the end of the night, the cake cutting was fun and Manor organised everything for us so that we didn’t have to worry about this.
Myself, mother of the bride, maid of honour and chief bridesmaid slept in the cottage the night before, and it was such a surreal experience stood looking at the venue thinking… this will be all mine tomorrow! It gave me butterflies just like the first time I saw the venue, but it was such an exciting feeling!
After such a long day, a lot of people went back to their rooms when the night was over, but a few groomsmen, bridesmaids, parents and of course bride & groom went into the Rock Bar and enjoyed some downtime whilst listening to the jukebox and playing some pool. It was nice to just elongate the evening until we felt ready to go to bed (even though that buzz doesn’t just disappear and we wanted to stay awake all night!).
Black Tie Wedding
‘The stand out factor to manor by the lake is the staff. Everyone was so professional, organised and helpful’.
Photographer: Iris & Ivy Photography
The grounds and the manor itself are stunning and provided a perfect venue for our theme.
The stand out factor to manor by the lake is the staff. Everyone was so professional, organised and helpful. From the very first day of planning the wedding to the last minute of the actual wedding day everything went perfectly to plan. The service was impeccable.
The lead up to our wedding was brilliant, we had Emma as our wedding planner and we can’t thank her enough or speak any higher of her. She made everything so easy for us and managed to sort anything we asked for. Food tasting, wine tasting and all planning meetings were great and we came away from each one feeling stress free about things we had been worrying about.
Our theme was formal black tie, with a high end, timeless feel.
The whole wedding breakfast, seeing the ballroom look exactly how we dreamt it with all our friends and family there enjoying the amazing food.
We wanted an Italian theme to our menu so the chef created a bespoke wedding breakfast for us.
Starter – Asparagus Risotto
Main – Lasagne with salad
Side- Selection of Italian Bread
Dessert – Wedding cake with strawberries and cream
Favourite spot was in front of the main entrance to the manor. Italian gardens were brilliant also.
Ballroom was incredible and looked amazing, perfect size for our wedding party. We opted for long tables which worked really well.
Evening reception was amazing! We loved how tables were still available for guests to sit but a huge dance floor was created. This was done seamlessly without any disruption. The dance floor was full all night!
All guests loved the afterparty in the rock bar. The bar was full stocked and James helped us connect to the Bluetooth for music into the early hours.

Spring Wedding
‘The Manor Arches are incredible, as is Yew Tree Walk leading up to it’.
Photographer: Dan Round Photography
Beautiful architecture, a good range of bedrooms (not too many, not too few), stunning grounds, exclusive use, the friendliness of the team, the flexibility to have exactly what we wanted (guest numbers, food, etc), lots of different rooms/outdoor areas that could be used however we wanted.
We were quite relaxed the whole time, the main bulk of the planning got done in the 6 months leading up to the wedding.
The only things we had done prior to this was booking the photographer and sending out save the dates. This might be too last minute for some but it worked for us. We also very much enjoyed the events leading up to the wedding – planning showcase, food tasting, wine tasting and final planning meeting.
Our colour scheme/theme was dark green, lots of flowers & greenery, very classic and romantic. We designed and printed all the stationery ourselves so it felt very personal. Our favourite being a wedding newspaper/booklet containing lots of special photographs and moments throughout our lives – guests seemed to really like this.
We loved all the options but the Maximilian was our favourite. It was a practical option because it wasn’t weather dependent so how we pictured it all to unfold was exactly how it would end up being. We had the best of both worlds because we still had a view of the gardens from the room. The room is a good size, not too cramped but not too large and overwhelming. Lots of natural light and would look good with a range of themes/colour schemes.
Bride – the receiving line when we walked out with our dogs and did a confetti shot with all our guests. The
speeches were also a highlight.
Groom – the anticipation and bits leading up to the ceremony and then seeing the bride walk down the aisle.
We chose Greek Mezze to start, we both visited Greece a lot as children and is a cuisine we really enjoy and we liked the laid back feel of it. We chose a Mexican feast for the evening food as this is a cuisine we eat a lot of at home, Mexico was also our honeymoon destination. We liked being able to have exactly the food we wanted and multiple options for guests to choose from, some venues were strict on only eating off a set menu and only offered one option plus any dietary requirements.
The Manor Arches are incredible, as is Yew Tree Walk leading up to it. We also loved the bridge overlooking the lake.
The outside space overall was just lovely. Being able to have our cocktail station, canapés, garden bar, lawn games and photographs all in one area after the ceremony was so nice. Even though we spent most of the time having our photographs taken, we didn’t feel like we were missing out and could see guests enjoying themselves.
Would definitely recommend our photographer, he is incredibly skilled and passionate. Our florist was also amazing and brought our vision to life.

Fun Filled Wedding
“Our theme was fun! We wanted the day to be relaxed and fun for everyone so we had giant games set up during the reception even an adults bouncy castle, and giant Collin & Connie caterpillars for wedding cake!”
Photography: Jenny and Hannah Photography
The first thing was how beautiful the Manor and it’s grounds are, I remember the first time we visited the manor walking from the car park through the woods and over the lake bridge in complete awe. The second was how friendly and helpful the team were they literally couldn’t do enough for us even at that early stage.
The whole planning process was made easy by how helpful the team at the Manor were, answering any of our questions and advising us in what does and doesn’t work through out the day and had an amazing attention to detail. The events they put on were also helpful like the wedding showcase, menu tasting and wine tasting.
Our theme was fun! We wanted the day to be relaxed and fun for everyone so we had giant games set up during the reception even an adults bouncy castle, and giant Collin & Connie caterpillars for wedding cake! Our colours were green and pink, the groom was in a green suit with pink accessories, the groomsman were in grey suits with pink accessories and the bridesmaid were in dusky pink dresses.
We chose the Italian Pavilion because we wanted an outside ceremony, and we felt that it was the most beautiful outside space out of the three and still had that intimate feeling that we were after. Luckily on the day the weather was amazing, but we had chosen the Maximillian room as our indoor back up.
The whole day was amazing so choosing one moment is tricky but we have to go with the moment where we were announced as Husband and Wife and all the nerves went away and everyone was clapping and so happy for us sharing in our joy!
For starters we picked the cheese souffle and salmon fishcakes, mains rolled lamb and chicken supreme, desserts chocolate terrine and lemon tart, evening do hog roast. We chose these options as there was some thing that everyone would enjoy, and at the menu tasting they were incredible, the lamb just melted in your mouth and the others were just as good. The food was by far the biggest compliment from our guests!
At the bottom of the steps as you could see the beautiful manor in the background and had plenty of space for everyone in the group photos. We also enjoyed our couples photos on the lake bridge.
Our favourite space was the ballroom as it was so beautifully decorated and was versatile so we could have the layout exactly as we wanted with the doors opening out onto the garden.
We had a live band and the venue DJ to follow. We partied until midnight with an amazing hog roast and fun extras like the magic mirror and sweet cart. There was also spaces like the rock bar for the oldies to sit, rest their legs and chat.
With the option of retiring to the rock bar which ran as an honesty bar or flopping into a comfy bed everyone was happy. The breakfast was very good and we like that everyone was on the same table.

“The rock bar was a massive hit! Everyone loved their rooms and the breakfast in the morning was to die for – even if we did have slightly sore heads from all the celebrations haha!”

The manor is absolutely stunning. We loved the elegant charm of the building and the surrounding gardens are truly beautiful. We particularly loved the fact that it had so many different spaces to appreciate and use on the day, such as the rock bar, the library and the cottage.
The team at Manor by the Lake were amazing! They were so friendly and professional and made planning every step of the wedding easy! They went over and above to accommodate our ideas and thought of every little detail to make sure the day ran as smoothly as possible. We loved having the opportunity to come in several times in the build up to the big day, such as the food tasting and event showcase.
Our theme was classic and timeless but simple and modern. We wanted lots of fresh flowers and went with lots of white flowers with leafy green undertones. Our bridesmaids wore olive green, satin dresses and all the groom’s party wore sand coloured suits with the same olive coloured tie. A few of our favourite unique pieces were a personalised disco ball, bride and groom cocktails (designed collaboratively with ourselves and the manor bar manager) and having the groom’s superbike on display in the ballroom!
We loved the intricate detailing and huge windows in the Maximilian room. We also wanted the option of getting married under the Italian pavilion if the weather was good. On the day, the team at Manor by the Lake set up both spaces and so a decision could be made at the final moment depending on the weather. In the end, we went with the Maximillian and it was perfect!
It’s really difficult to pick a particular favourite moment of the day as there are so many but, if we had to pick just one, it would probably be walking out immediately after the ceremony and going into the library – just the two of us. It was such a surreal moment thinking we had just become officially husband and wife!
The food was amazing! We had the rib of beef and chicken supreme as choices for our main and they were both delicious. Our starters and desserts were equally as impressive. In the evening, we had the chef come out and live cook paella at a station in the corner of the ballroom. We had so many compliments on all the food and drink throughout the day.
The rock bar was one of our favourite rooms at the manor. We love to party and it was the perfect space to celebrate before, during and after the main event! We also loved the bridal suite as it was just beautifully presented and had a great view from the balcony.
The evening reception was so much fun! We partied all night and all our guests loved it. The food was amazing and the ballroom was just the perfect place to celebrate with all our loved ones. The room was presented perfectly with a good sized dance floor in the middle with lots of space around to display all our other items such as the magic mirror, photo board and sweet cart.
Our guests loved the overnight and after party experience. The rock bar was a massive hit! Everyone loved their rooms and the breakfast in the morning was to die for – even if we did have slightly sore heads from all the celebrations haha!
All our suppliers were great! We would particularly recommend the hair and make up ladies for the bridal party and our wedding cake maker.

“There was so much love in the room we felt like we could fly: the venue is spectacular!”
Photography: Zosia Zacharia
What made Manor By The Lake stand out for you?
The venue is spectacular, but what really stood out for us, from day one right up until the end of our wedding day, were the staff. They were super helpful and accommodating, all going above and beyond to make our day special!
Favourite moment of the day?
When we were announced into the ballroom for the evening meal and the crowd went crazy. There was so much love in the room, we felt like we could fly!
With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?
The Cedar Tree is the most magical part of the venue for taking pictures. It’s so grand and regal. We got some amazing pictures with the tree and the Manor in the background. The photos around the arches by the front door and the bedroom have come out really beautifully too!
Tell us about your evening reception, did you party the night away?
The party was out of this world. Everyone was so desperate to dance that we didn’t even do our first dance as everyone wanted to dance. We even got the extended licence so we could party into the night!
What was your theme? Any favourite unique touches?
We had a Persian wedding with a very beautiful table set up in the Manor. The staff really helped us to make everything look good and there was no stress. It was the most chilled day!
Intimate Autumn Wedding
“We absolutely loved our special day at Manor By The Lake and wouldn’t have changed a thing. The staff were so caring and attentive making our day a dream. The grounds were beautiful and the food was amazing, we have to many great photos to remember our day”
What was your first impression when you visited Manor By The Lake for the first time?
The manor was absolutely stunning, such a beautiful building with so much character! The gardens were pristine and we fell in love with the gorgeous chandelier in the entrance hall. We couldn’t believe it would be all ours on our special day!
Are you happy that you went ahead with your wedding during the COVID restrictions? Did you still get your dream wedding?
We still had our dream wedding. The staff were amazing at making our day so special. We loved the intimate feel and you wouldn’t even notice the restrictions that were in place from our photos.
What was your favourite aspect of Manor By The Lake?
The manor was absolutely stunning, such a beautiful building with so much character! The gardens were pristine and we fell in love with the gorgeous chandelier in the entrance hall.
What was the funniest or most memorable part of your day?
I felt I needed a quick break before my evening guests arrived. The staff were fantastic, they sent me up to my room and brought up a tray of tea and biscuits for me to enjoy with my bridesmaids before the party commenced! It was just what I needed!
Based on your own experiences, do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?
Ask your guests to take as many photos as possible. Some of our best, most natural photos were taken on guests’ phones. They captured some great memories that we may not have seen!
Don’t get too worked up on over-planning. No matter what, the day is a blast and you are so excited that you don’t realise all the small things! The staff are so experienced and have the day totally in hand!
Intimate Winter Wedding
“Manor by the Lake hosted our wedding and all our guests found the rooms and service excellent. It’s a great location and the staff were very attentive with us all. Would definitely recommend this venue to future couples wanting to get married..”
Photography: SNOB Events
What was your first impression when you visited Manor By The Lake for the first time?
The grounds and manor were beautiful and added to the whole autumny/wintery ambience that we wanted to create. Each room within the manor added a unique feel to the whole venue overall.
Are you happy that you went ahead with your wedding during the COVID restrictions? Did you still get your dream wedding?
Yes for sure to the point where we felt it was even better than it would have been pre-covid times. The intimate vibe really did make the whole day very special for every guest that attended.
What was your favourite aspect of Manor By The Lake?
There was no particular aspect that made this venue special, it was a combination of each room, the staff and the grounds that came together to create a prefect venue.
What was the funniest or most memorable part of your day?
The most memorable part was actually seeing all of our decor in the manor and how stunning it all went together with the rooms. It came together so well!
Based on your own experiences, do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?
Definitely go and view the venue. Don’t just go for what the venue looks like on the outside but also on the inside. Ask all the relevant questions on these visits so you know exactly what is what for your big day.
Winter Wedding
“I would describe our wedding décor as old school vintage glamour. The Manor was nothing short of perfection. I used a mix of deep burgundy, blush pinks, peaches, rose golds and coppers in my floral arrangements.”
Photography: Fear Photography
How did you meet?
We met on a night out at Christmas at a very quiet pub! I was wearing a red dress and Scott claims it was ‘love at first sight’ and I have since inherited the nickname ‘Jadey in Red’.
Tell us about the proposal?
Scott proposed Christmas morning in front of my Mum, Sister, Sisters Fiance, my Nephew and my Dad! It was a total surprise! My Dad knew and had lined up the champers before I even said Yes! He even secretly recorded so we luckily have a video to look back on!
What made you choose Manor By The Lake?
I fell in love the moment I drove up the drive. We loved the dark wood and opulence of colour throughout the Manor house and the beautiful ballroom which gave me as much scope as I wanted to add flowers and make it suit our theme.
Who food did you choose and why?
We had a selection of soup or fishcake for the starter, Chicken or beef for the main and Sticky toffee or choc trifle for pudding! We had so many compliments on the food and it was so delicious
What was your stand out moment from your wedding party?
I really loved my Sisters poem she read for us during the speeches. We were so fortunate to have her there as my Niece was, and still is a very poorly little lady in Kings Hospital, London. It was such a joy to still have her there and do a reading for us.
Who did each of you wear?
I wore a backless lace dress by Mikaella. I always knew I would want a more slimline style and have always loved backless. Scott wore morning tails with traditional grey pinstripe trousers, black waistcoat, white shirt and a burgundy tie to match my bouquet.
What made your day extra special?
The whole day was a fairy-tale from start to finish, it was a beautiful, magical…BLUR! Our wedding manager Jules and all the team ensured the day ran like clockwork.
What moments stood out for you the most?
Waiting outside the ceremony room doors with my Dad waiting to walk up the aisle to meet Scott. My Dad was so emotional and those last few moments with him as a Miss were so special! For Scott is was the moment I walked through the doors and he saw me in my wedding dress.
Come on in and take a virtual tour of the manor and grounds. Have a nose around and enjoy the scenery, get a feel for the beautiful architecture and history steeped walls.
