Orshi & Mosh’s Overseas Wedding

The Story

With you looking to have your wedding celebrations in the UK, what made Manor By The Lake stand out for you?

During our wedding planning process, we reviewed numerous websites and wedding venue brochures, eventually narrowing our options down to five locations that we wished to visit over the summer, while we were in the UK. The first venue we visited was  Manor by the Lake. From the moment we arrived and walked along the Yew Tree Walk, we immediately sensed that there was something special about the place. We were greeted with warmth and hospitality by Tina, who offered us a glass of champagne. She then guided us through the venue, showing us the various facilities. Every room and garden space we explored was truly breathtaking. For us, it was the combination of the venue’s stunning grounds and the attentive, kind staff that made us feel confident that this would be the perfect place to bring our dream day to life.

How easy was it to do your initial tour and plan your wedding with you living overseas and not in the UK?

The entire process was incredibly seamless for us. We were initially offered a virtual tour, during which the team conducted a Zoom call to walk us through the grounds and review the online brochure. The wedding planning team was consistently responsive to our emails, and the appointments were scheduled in promptly. We also had our in-person tour arranged well in advance, and they were very accommodating in organising tours and visits around our schedule.

Tell us about your wedding journey in the lead up to your wedding and how did you feel?

Planning a wedding from overseas certainly presents its challenges. We were initially concerned about missing out on open days where the venue showcased additional services, as well as food and drink tasting events. While we had already visited the venue, it was difficult to fully envision the decorations and how everything would come together. As the wedding day approached, we found ourselves feeling both excited and nervous. Fortunately, we arrived in the UK a month prior to the big day, which allowed us to schedule a couple of visits to Manor by the Lake. These visits provided us with much-needed reassurance. Additionally, the team graciously arranged a mocktail tasting with the bar manager, which further restored our confidence and made us feel at ease with our decisions.

With amazing ceremony spaces available, where did you choose and why?

We chose to have our ceremony at the Italian Pavilion, hoping the weather would cooperate – and thankfully, it did! While all of the venue’s spaces are beautiful, the Italian Pavilion truly stood out to us. Surrounded by lush greenery and with the stunning building as a backdrop, it was the perfect setting for our special day. We couldn’t have asked for a more breathtaking location.

What was your favourite moment of the day?

Mosh’s favourite moment was seeing Orshi walk down the aisle. It felt so emotional and surreal – it was truly a beautiful moment. Orshi’s favourite part was the first dance. Being surrounded by loved ones made it all the more special. We both cherished every moment of the day, and it’s hard to pick just one highlight. It was wonderful seeing all the children having fun on the bouncy castle, while the adults enjoyed the garden games.

Tell us all about your food! What did you choose and why?

Choosing the food was a bit of a challenge for us, as we weren’t able to taste everything beforehand. However, we did try the brownies during our first visit, and they were absolutely amazing, which reassured us. Our main concern was selecting the right dishes for our guests. We wanted to offer variety, so we decided on a fish option, as Mosh is pescatarian, as well as white and red meat choices. After reviewing our guest list, we anticipated that more people would prefer lamb over beef, so we opted for lamb. We selected the menu through the online portal, and everything looked just as we had imagined – delicious, with beautiful and flavourful dishes.

With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?

We absolutely loved taking photos throughout the manor – whether it was at the Italian Pavilion, the garden, the ballroom, or the library. However, our absolute favourite moment was by the lake on the bridge in the evening. With the fairy lights glowing, it felt like something straight out of a fairytale. The whole scene was just magical.

What was your favourite space/area at Manor By The Lake? Why was this your favourite space and how did you use it?

We thoroughly enjoyed the garden and patio area. Many of our guests grabbed a drink and relaxed on the patio, taking in the stunning views of the grounds. The bouncy castle was a huge hit-both children and adults had a blast bouncing and having fun, which was a joy to watch. The garden games were also set up in the same area, and we made sure to take full advantage of them.

Tell us about your evening reception, where did you have this, tell us about the space you used and how?

For our evening reception, we primarily used the ballroom. It was arranged perfectly, allowing guests to chat comfortably at the tables while still having the space to dance if they wanted. The back door of the ballroom remained open, giving people the option to step outside for some fresh air whenever they wished.

Did either of you stay the night before in the cottage? Did you enjoy being onsite the night before?

N/A – We didn’t stay in the cottage the night before, however I really enjoyed getting ready in there in the morning of the wedding. It is a stunning space.

Did you and your overnight guests enjoy the afterparty experience?

Absolutely! After midnight, many of our guests headed to the Rock Bar, where they enjoyed playing pool, chatting, and having a few more drinks. Some chose to retire to their rooms. Everyone was impressed by the beautiful rooms, the comfortable beds, and the stunning views from their windows and enjoyed the beautiful breakfast the next morning.
