Rebecca & Bradley’s Spring Wedding

The Story

What made Manor By The Lake stand out for you?

From the moment we walked the manor grounds up to the entrance of the building, we knew this was the venue for us. Everything that came after looking at the exterior of the building was a bonus. The staff were so welcoming and professional and made us feel at home from our first tour of the venue. Once we viewed Manor By The Lake, no other venue stood a chance. We were so excited that we booked our date before we got home!

Tell us about your wedding journey in the lead up to your wedding and how did you feel?

Manor By The Lake’s wonderful planning team made the planning journey an enjoyable experience. It can be a stressful time, but we felt completely relaxed and assured as we knew Manor By The Lake understood exactly what we wanted, down to the minor details.

What was your theme? Any favourite unique touches?

With it being a March wedding, our theme was Spring! Our flowers included some gorgeous Spring colours, which looked beautiful both inside during the ceremony and outside of the venue during our couple portraits.

With several ceremony spaces available, where did you choose and why?

We chose the Maximillian. If you have get the pleasure of viewing this room, you will instantly understand why we chose this space. The intricate details of carvings on the walls and beautiful views of the Italian Pavilion outside are what sold it to us.

Favourite moment of the day?

The confetti throw after the ceremony. We chose the Manor Arches for this part of the day. We felt so lucky to see our closest family and friends lined up ready to congratulate us as a newly married couple

Tell us all about your food! What did you choose and why?

We were delighted to be invited to the taste event to sample some of the venues menu choices. We were blown away by the quality and the flavours of each dish we tried. Everything was delicious; but in the end we opted for the following for our guests to chose from:

Starters:

Salmon and caper fishcake, wilted spinach, hollandaise sauce

Crispy sweet potato and red pepper fritters, butternut squash and harissa hummus

Intermediate Couse: Champagne Sorbet

Mains:

Braised beef blade steak, pancetta, shallot and chestnut mushroom ragu, creamy mash, gravy

Seared Loch Duart salmon fillet, roasted fennel mash, braised shallot and pea, brown shrimp and caper butter

Desserts:

Lemon tart, fresh raspberries, creme fraiche

Passion fruit and white chocolate trifle, mango and mint salad

All of our guests said they loved the food and some of them said it’s the best ‘wedding meal’ they have ever had!

With unlimited photo opportunities, where was your favourite spot?

The Manor Arches offered a space for romantic photographs, whilst also capturing the beauty and classic architecture of the building.

What was your favourite space/area at Manor By The Lake? Why was this your favourite space and how did you use it?

Hard to choose a favourite with so many gorgeous spaces! But it has to be the Maximillian for us. As well as the ceremony, we also chose to have our wedding breakfast in this room. It offers an intimate space for you and your guests but also views of the beautiful grounds whilst you enjoy your meal.

Tell us about your evening reception, did you party the night away?

Yes! Although we had a small number of day guests, we had additional guests arrive in the evening. We chose to host all guests in the ballroom for the evening reception. It is another beautiful space which can be decorated to your taste, even down to the colour of the lighting in the room.

Did either of you stay the night before in the cottage or lodge? Did you enjoy being closer the night before?

Myself, my mum and one of my bridesmaids stayed at the cottage the night before. This helped us relax and unwind before the big day. It’s a lovely space and offers 2 bathrooms with good size showers. The remaining bridal party joined us here in the morning for preparations before moving over to the honeymoon suite.

Did you and your overnight guests enjoy the afterparty experience?

They all loved the Rock Bar. They were also all very pleased with their bedrooms and all enjoyed the breakfast the morning after. It was nice to sit with our closest family and reflect on the wedding day before checking out.

Any suppliers that you would recommend to others? Perhaps your photographer or florist?

We could not recommend our photographer (Bob Dowell Photography) enough. Having your photo taken can be quite awkward, but Bob made everyone feel so relaxed and had a great sense of humour, too. Our guests were saying how lucky we were to have him capture our day!
